With more than 182 participating countries and over 2000 project submissions annually the Energy Globe Award is today's most prestigious environmental prize worldwide. It distinguishes projects regionally, nationally and globally that conserve resources such as energy or utilize renewable or emission-free sources. Award ceremonies are held all over the world. Prominent personalities as well as Energy Globe Ambassadors in 90 countries support the mission of Energy Globe. The activities of Energy Globe attract worldwide media attention - international TV stations report each year with approximately 1,000 hours of broadcasting time. The aim of the Energy Globe is to raise global attention on sustainable, everywhere applicable environmental solutions and to motivate people to also become active in this area.

Biofire recycles agroforest waste into solid biofuel such as wood briquette, coal, compressed coal and biochar, efficient cheap and ecofriendly for cooking and heating needs. Their business aim is to give people access to cheaper energy solution and save forests that continue to dwindle due to inefficient use of wood fuel. Bio fuel product can be used in fireplaces, barbeque, wooden oven and it is safer and much cleaner compared to the traditional one.
High price of electricity and gas made the restaurants, such as pizza restaurants and barbecue restaurants, migrate from using electricity or gas for their cooking purposes to wood or coal. A lot of Tunisian families in rural areas do not have access to electricity let alone sustainable energy. Thus, they use wood and coal for their heating and cooking needs. This means that the forests face grave danger of deforestation as the growing population in rural areas continues to cut down trees for fuel.
The solution is to collect agroforestry waste such as saw dust to make energy efficient bio fuel. By recycling the waste, Biofire gives farmers and wood factory extra revenue to help them to manage their waste by selling it to the company. In the crushing section in the factory, Biofire uses three types of grinder for different type and size of the raw material. In the press part they use a drier to dry the raw material.
The innovation in this project is that Biofire is crushing the raw material and press it in high temperature to get the wood briquette. After they carbonize the briquette in a special oven using the pyrolysis technique to get the coal, they crush the coal residue and add a natural binder to get the compressed coal.
