With more than 182 participating countries and over 2000 project submissions annually the Energy Globe Award is today's most prestigious environmental prize worldwide. It distinguishes projects regionally, nationally and globally that conserve resources such as energy or utilize renewable or emission-free sources. Award ceremonies are held all over the world. Prominent personalities as well as Energy Globe Ambassadors in 90 countries support the mission of Energy Globe. The activities of Energy Globe attract worldwide media attention - international TV stations report each year with approximately 1,000 hours of broadcasting time. The aim of the Energy Globe is to raise global attention on sustainable, everywhere applicable environmental solutions and to motivate people to also become active in this area.

In order to solve the problem of flooding and water shortage, the Zhongzheng community in Xizhi District, New Taipei City, transformed the existing asphalt road into JW eco breathing road and enclosed the existing drainage ditch as an underground reservoir. The goal of this project is to change a city into a living sponge city, and the solution is to pave JW pavements in a large scale so that water can be collected during the rainy season and then evaporates back into the atmosphere for cooling during the hot days.
For many years, Taiwan has suffered from frequent and severe floods and drought for a long time. The annual average rainfall in Taiwan is about 2510 mm, which is 2.6 times of the world average and some typhoon once brought more than 2500 mm of rainfall within one day or two. The ZhongZheng community was stricken by several floods caused by typhoons.
The solution is to construct permeable pavement, JW Eco-Technology can overcome drawbacks of traditional concept and technology of road construction and allow high water and air permeability, no surface runoff and high water storage. JW Eco-Technology can allow artificial pavements with benefits of load-bearing and high water permeability to improve and increase water storage.
JW eco-breathing road with its high-tech infiltration capacity enables pavements to store and purify runoff to prevent floods and droughts. In other words, JW eco-breathing road can absorb a large amount of runoff from the upstream and form a detention pond and provide sustainable water source in dry seasons. JW Eco-Technology is constructed based on physical properties and structural mechanics principle that adopts plastic air-circulating aqueduct and impervious cement concrete surface layer on aggregate layer.
