With more than 182 participating countries and over 2000 project submissions annually the Energy Globe Award is today's most prestigious environmental prize worldwide. It distinguishes projects regionally, nationally and globally that conserve resources such as energy or utilize renewable or emission-free sources. Award ceremonies are held all over the world. Prominent personalities as well as Energy Globe Ambassadors in 90 countries support the mission of Energy Globe. The activities of Energy Globe attract worldwide media attention - international TV stations report each year with approximately 1,000 hours of broadcasting time. The aim of the Energy Globe is to raise global attention on sustainable, everywhere applicable environmental solutions and to motivate people to also become active in this area.
National ENERGY GLOBE Award Spain 2018
The project involves the construction of an assembly of a houses equipped with energy efficient and sustainable energy technology house. The location for the project was selected to utilize space that was lying idle into a testing and assembly laboratory for real installations with the sole purpose of educating students about the viability of self-sufficient sustainable installations.
The Department of Energy and Water has evaluated the possibility of having in the same location, different types of renewable energy that could be used by students for practical lessons throughout their leaning period. The administration center has been contacted in order to engage the services of as many departments as possible to collaborate for the success of the project of which the Department of Plastic Arts has been in charge of the design of the sustainable houses.
The ultimate project idea is the construction of a wooden house that is energy-efficient with a surface of 30 square meters on a 100 square metre field. The sustainable house has different types of renewable energy features, different technologies and, in addition, has been built with materials of low environmental impact. An organic vegetable patch assimilated into the structure and it is automated for an efficient consumption of the necessary resources (energy and water).
To implement a sustainable energy house in an educational center that contains different kind of energy sources, the involved department has installed aerothermal, thermal, photovoltaic, with efficient water management and electric vehicle recharging point. Energy efficiency systems for heating radiant floor with aerothermal and geothermal, lighting (domotic systems and led lamps have also been successfully in cooperated into the housing structure.
