Energy Globe Award

With more than 182 participating countries and over 2000 project submissions annually the Energy Globe Award is today's most prestigious environmental prize worldwide. It distinguishes projects regionally, nationally and globally that conserve resources such as energy or utilize renewable or emission-free sources. Award ceremonies are held all over the world. Prominent personalities as well as Energy Globe Ambassadors in 90 countries support the mission of Energy Globe. The activities of Energy Globe attract worldwide media attention - international TV stations report each year with approximately 1,000 hours of broadcasting time. The aim of the Energy Globe is to raise global attention on sustainable, everywhere applicable environmental solutions and to motivate people to also become active in this area.

Rain City

The ‘Rain City’ project’s main aim is to reuses of rainwater that is collected from each city. The system is connected with sewage line that makes huge water circulation system. The Project ‘Rain City’ is a stable water supply that also help to prevent damage from flood as more water is taken up for storage.

Initial situation
Cities of Korea, Republic of (South) continue to face water shortage due to the increase in water demand based on expansion of economic activity and high population. The massive growth of industries and subsequent increase in urbanization has reduced surface area for infiltration of rain water, thereby causing flooding which is accelerated by extreme weather conditions of climate change.

Solution
The solution is to construct “Green Rain Infrastructure” in the form of rain water penetration blocks and gardens which captures rain water above ground and channels the water to sewage line that makes huge water circulation system. By improving of the water circulation, the rainwater is collected and used where it is needed. This project is playing a huge role in reducing the energy consumption by reusing rain water.

Innovation
The project entails the development and application of creative solutions for rainwater utilization. Their government is involved in massive inducement of civil participation through advertisement and education for establishment of water circulation leading city. The harvested from the rainwater storage facility is utilized at gymnasium for grass irrigation and general cleaning.
