With more than 182 participating countries and over 2000 project submissions annually the Energy Globe Award is today's most prestigious environmental prize worldwide. It distinguishes projects regionally, nationally and globally that conserve resources such as energy or utilize renewable or emission-free sources. Award ceremonies are held all over the world. Prominent personalities as well as Energy Globe Ambassadors in 90 countries support the mission of Energy Globe. The activities of Energy Globe attract worldwide media attention - international TV stations report each year with approximately 1,000 hours of broadcasting time. The aim of the Energy Globe is to raise global attention on sustainable, everywhere applicable environmental solutions and to motivate people to also become active in this area.

The program of action "Conhecer para Preservar|Rede Natura 2000" is composed of 16 actions, 13 of which are the responsibility of the municipality of Torres Vedras. The main objectives of this project are to sensitize the school communities about natural resource conservation and to increase the level of active participation of the youth and school community in the protection and restoration of classified natural values.
Over the years, the municipality of Torres Vedras has been betting on the conservation and preservation of classified natural resources existing in its territory. The main challenge was to define a plan of action that meets the objectives set forth in the strategic and regulatory documents of the conservation area in nature, a challenge that has been achieved.
The solution is the "Conhecer para Preservar|Rede Natura 2000" project that is grouping together guiding principles whose ultimate purpose is to define an intervention strategy able to effectively and efficiently ensure the education, information, awareness and participation of schools in the field conservation of natural resource conservation. A set of communication tools with conservation awareness information has already been produced and delivered to schools.
The project emphasizes an innovative approach to active participation by schools and surrounding communities in a bid to change attitudes and behaviors regarding preservation of natural values. In addition, this set of actions develops on an integrated planning logic where strategy and plan of action is drawn up.
