ENERGY GLOBE
Netherlands

WINNER:
Circularise

With the Project:
Circular System for Assessing Rare Earth Sustainability (CSyARES)

The Circular System for Assessing Rare Earth Sustainability (CSyARES) project aims to improve the sustainability of rare earth supply for low-carbon technologies. By quantifying the environmental impacts of rare earth element production, it ensures the transition to decarbonization uses responsibly sourced materials. Minviro and REIA have developed new PCR standards, which will be integrated into Circularise's traceability system to meet regulatory requirements. Industry partners like Grundfos and BEC will support the project's demonstration, showcasing energy conservation and labor conditions within the REE value chain.

WINNER:
C2CAT BV

With the Project:
Alternative Smart-by-Design Catalysis for Renewable Hydrogen Production and Storage (ANCHOR)

C2CAT develops custom catalysts for efficient, affordable, and sustainable hydrogen production and storage. Unlike standard catalysts, which are inefficient and rely on expensive materials like Pd and Pt, C2CAT's patented techniques combine advanced design with machine learning to eliminate these materials, improving catalyst performance and durability. The proof-of-concept has shown a 2-fold increase in activity, 5-fold increase in durability, and 60% cost savings. Product performance is currently being validated at customer facilities in the Netherlands, with plans for production and scale-up upon validation.
