NVP Energy’s first full-scale dairy plant project involves the treatment of 500m3/day of wastewater at Arrabawn Dairies Group in Co. Galway, Ireland. Arrabawn Dairies is part of Arrabawn Co-op, a leading Irish dairy group which produces liquid milk, consumer milk products and animal feed. It has a turnover of €221m. Arrabawn Dairies chose NVP Energy as the sustainable, low OPEX wastewater solution to provide the treatment capacity increase they required.
Arrabawn Group are a large diversified Co-operative Society with an annual turnover of €221M, with the group comprising of a retail trading division, animal feed division as well as manufacturing division with facilities for both liquid milk and dairy ingredients. Their production site in Co. Galway is a liquid milk plant which was developed in 2005. Prior to the implementation of the project, there was a small existing treatment plant on-site but having grown the business in the last 10 years, there was a need to improve the effluent treatment.
Acutely aware of their waste water issue at the Co. Galway site, Arrabawn sought out an innovative solution to meet this challenge which led to the implementation of the project conducting a long-term pilot trial with them. Due to the success of this trial, an Arrabawn group decided to implement the technology at full- scale at the Co. Galway site. One NVPE module with containerised mechanical & electrical components and smart controls system, treats up to 500 m³ of waste water per day.
