Soil erosion destroys millions of hectares of fruitful land in Ethiopia every year. The Green Ethopia Foundation is successfully fighting this through reforestation in the mountains and hills, resulting in functioning irrigation in the lowlands. The forest is the green wonder of our planet. On the one hand, it converts CO2 into the important oxygen, on the other hand it also stores and cleans the important rainwater. The water that falls during the rainy season no longer gets muddy, but is collected by the forests and comes out again after a few months in the form of springs and rivers at the foot of the mountains. Now people and animals can use the water during the dry season. For this reason, Green Ethopia plants around 2 million trees annually. It is mainly women who work in the around 40 tree nurseries, currently about 4,000 of them.
