With more than 182 participating countries and over 2000 project submissions annually the Energy Globe Award is today's most prestigious environmental prize worldwide. It distinguishes projects regionally, nationally and globally that conserve resources such as energy or utilize renewable or emission-free sources. Award ceremonies are held all over the world. Prominent personalities as well as Energy Globe Ambassadors in 90 countries support the mission of Energy Globe. The activities of Energy Globe attract worldwide media attention - international TV stations report each year with approximately 1,000 hours of broadcasting time. The aim of the Energy Globe is to raise global attention on sustainable, everywhere applicable environmental solutions and to motivate people to also become active in this area.

The project provides a way of generating opportunities for people in need as well as to Institutions that through donation can create a more sustainable environment for everyone, triggering not only social but also economic development. The program makes use of donations of wasted materials, such as textile, plastic and paper, which is collected by SESC, and by the means of teaching people to handcraft and customize new materials.
According to Brazilian Association of Public Cleaning and Special Waste Companies (ABRELPE, 2017), only 59.1% of all Urban Solid Residues had the proper disposal on landfills or other methods of solid treatment. Moreover, in a survey conducted in 2008 by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE), which collected data from basic sanitation countrywide indicates that only 11.56% of all recyclable material was in fact recycled or reused.
Sesc Envolva-se is a sustainable network which seeks to promote education activities focused on developing skills and competence of the participants, leading to reduce solid waste, creating work opportunities, increasing income and strengthening citizenship. Education activities are thought altogether with institutional donors and institutional partners to disseminate the pillars of sustainability, which consists of at least economic, social and environmental factors.
Two higher education institutions had partnered up with Sesc, Unisinos and Estácio University. Unisinos provided professional accompaniment from student of courses like fashion design, managing and gaming development. Estácio offered its law and accountant team for free to help with any questions related to those areas. The partnerships is beneficial to Sesc and provides experience to the students and professionals besides recognition to the institutions involved.
