With more than 178 participating countries and over 2000 project submissions annually the Energy Globe Award is today's most prestigious environmental prize worldwide. It distinguishes projects regionally, nationally and globally that conserve resources such as energy or utilize renewable or emission-free sources. Award ceremonies are held all over the world. Prominent personalities as well as Energy Globe Ambassadors in 90 countries support the mission of Energy Globe. The activities of Energy Globe attract worldwide media attention - international TV stations report each year with approximately 1,000 hours of broadcasting time. The aim of the Energy Globe is to raise global attention on sustainable, everywhere applicable environmental solutions and to motivate people to also become active in this area.

The WASH programs are specially aimed at creating awareness among people on the essential needs and benefits of safe water and use of sanitary latrines, motivating people on behavioral change and assisting and facilitating construction of tube-wells and sanitary latrines has reached out to wider geographical areas.
The fragile ecology crowded onto low-lying land where annual monsoon floods contaminate water sources and leave millions with appalling sanitary conditions are also troubled by rapid urbanization and poverty of the masses. This itself presented a dire need of bringing services around basic facilities like safe water, improved sanitation and hygiene promotion.
As a solution, they started a program for better awareness including the use of safe water, sanitary latrines, and hygiene education as promotional activities to reach multiple benefits to the beneficiaries. The overall impact has been a significant reduction of water borne diseases like cholera, diarrhea, dysentery, etc. and a reduction in the number of child deaths, facilities better prepared to continue to provide WASH in disasters and climate related events; reduced health care acquired infections, anti-microbial resistance, and improved health and safety.
Innovation for DAM comes into play when they introduced locally appropriate technological options of safe water supply, low-cost sanitary latrine materials, promotion of smokeless ovens, promotion of homestead tree plantation and nursery raising, a platform with water points and sanitary latrines up to flood level, female caretakers of deep hand tube-wells, women bathing corners and girl’s separate toilets with MHM system, and programmatic cost-effectiveness to negotiate WASH program challenges.
