Title: Building and Construction Improvement Plan

Buildings and Construction Improvement Programme (BACIP) has been engaged in developing and promoting community based solutions for housing issues in Northern Areas and Chitral since 1997. BACIP has tested and applied more then 60 housing and living conditions improvement products. Products decrease fuel requirements for heating and cooking by 50%; a reduction in diseases such as ARI and pneumonia. Up to date, 12,500 EE and HI technologies have been adopted in 25,000 households. 4-5 tons of CO2 emissions a year per household saved through the program. BACIP, winner of the 2005 Alcan Prize for Sustainability and 2006 World Habitat Award.
