With more than 178 participating countries and over 2000 project submissions annually the Energy Globe Award is today's most prestigious environmental prize worldwide. It distinguishes projects regionally, nationally and globally that conserve resources such as energy or utilize renewable or emission-free sources. Award ceremonies are held all over the world. Prominent personalities as well as Energy Globe Ambassadors in 90 countries support the mission of Energy Globe. The activities of Energy Globe attract worldwide media attention - international TV stations report each year with approximately 1,000 hours of broadcasting time. The aim of the Energy Globe is to raise global attention on sustainable, everywhere applicable environmental solutions and to motivate people to also become active in this area.

This project aims to produce independently sustainable farming solutions. Each element of the program is capable of reducing societal need of burning fossil fuels and to improve the health of the community. The interconnected systems allow for the production of fuel, which is derived from the farm’s own refuse. This is then used to power the farm, which allows for reduced reliance on outside sources for power and heat.
The nation is facing food insecurity because during the dry season rice cannot be grown in sufficient quantities to feed the population. The problem is due to a lack of water during the dry season. With the required sustenance needed from other nations, the country and the individual householder are facing severe economic issues.
With the combination of aquaponics, solar panels, bio-digesters and drip irrigation systems, farms can maintain sufficient levels of irrigation throughout the year and with the combination of solar energy and biogas generators, the farm can operate at lower cost. With the issue of food sourcing being addressed the question of food security can be answered.
This project implements a system of industrial symbiosis in that the systems are designed to boost each other. The usefulness of the process is in the fact that the community utilizes the burning of fossil fuels in order to cook and heat their homes and the symbiotic system provides renewable energy for use in the homes of the community.

The merit of this project is in the usefulness of a project like this to farmers globally. The need for irrigation is prevalent in communities across the globe. The usefulness of a biogas harvester is something which can be applied to any farming system. The interconnected concept of the system is useful in that the systems support each other.
