Title: New Zealand household efficient lighting projects
Energy Mad implemented 30 regional Household Efficient Lighting Projects (HELP) since 2004 throughout New Zealand. In conjunction with utilities, government, Foodstuffs and Shell, every household in the participating region had the opportunity to purchase five energy-saving Ecobulbs for $10 upon presentation of a direct-mailed voucher. Over 3 million Ecobulbs were installed to replace incandescent bulbs in New Zealand households, with an average of 50% of households participating. Cumulative savings of 1.7 GWh of electricity, 300 million dollars, and 1.06 million tons of CO2 will be achieved over the life of the Ecobulbs.
