Title: Holistic and sustainable renovation increases quality of living and drops energy costs in Salzburg
On renovation of the apartment complex in Plainstrasse in Salzburg (Austria), the aim was to retain the character of the building and its structure and thus to meet the building authority’s requirements. Modern apartment sizes were achieved by extending individual apartments via addition. Heating and hot water, previously handled by individual furnaces in the apartments, was modernized with GSWB’s proven system of district heating with stations in the apartments. The new central energy system, based on the building’s own micro-district heating system, is served by district heating of the city of Salzburg as well as by a large roof-mounted thermal solar system.
