Title: Water for hospital in Cameroon
With donations from the Epiphany action of the Catholic Church in Austria and private funds via an organization, a new hospital was built in Galim (central Cameroon). In addition, the improvement of the infrastructure with respect to water supply was planned in Austria, tested for feasibility in Cameroon, and finally realized. Water was provided initially only via a pump system; therefore the nonprofit organization assumed the financing and planning of a solar-powered pump. At Christmas 2005 a team led by engineer Hannes Marte flew to Cameroon to install the solar water pump system and hand it over to the hospital. Additional projects (including a hot water system in the hospital laundry) were also realized in 2006. Completion of another project is scheduled for 2008.
