Title: Fluorosis Mitigation through Technical Intervention and Community Participation in India

The rural population in many areas of India currently use drinking water with high fluoride concentrations supplied from wells and bore wells. The development of a long-term solution for cleaning of fluoride contaminated groundwater is of critical importance. Appropriate technology must be technically simple, cost effective, easily transferable and accessible to the rural community, and must use local resources. The project aims to create awareness among the local population about the harmful effects of drinking fluoride contaminated water, to develop and test a fluoride detection kit, and to adopt rooftop rain water harvesting systems as an alternate source of drinking water.
