Title: City of Enns on the way to sustainable CO2 reduction
In the sense of active Climate Alliance policy, at the start of 2006 the city of Enns (Austria) set the goal of considerably reducing CO2 emissions by means of measures at city-owned properties in the area of heating and especially by means of insulation measures. Parallel to technical improvements, the city also took the opportunity to switch to renewable energy. Thus the city reduced its annual CO2 emissions from 942 to 256 tons annually. This amounts to energy savings of some 520,000 kWh annually. Subsequent projects will promote energy saving on the private sector; thus the city is again preparing local energy saving programs and holistic local energy programs.
