Title: Study to Assess the CFC Problem in Austria
The aim of the project was to determine and evaluate the amount of CFC in the construction industry and to develop a financeable, practice-oriented and sustainable CFC control concept based on the EU Ozone Act and the Austrian Waste Management Act. In 2003 XPS and PU insulating material contained a huge amount of CFC in Austria; this is comparable to the total amount of Austria’s greenhouse gas emissions for two years. The annual diffusion losses of ozone-degrading matters from insulation material, evaluated in greenhouse gas equivalent, amounted to 10% of the Kyoto reduction mark for Austria in 2003.
