Title: Individual Coping Strategies for Effects of Global Climate Change
The objective of the project is to develop a methodology and procedures by which individuals can use a range of actions to minimize their danger from weather-related extremes. Records of recent extreme weather events will be examined and analyzed to develop example actions that might have been taken by private people for their own families. The data accrued for these actions will be published on a public-interest website as well as supplied to media and city officials as appropriate. The purpose is predominately to save lives but also to help to make people more aware of the perils of global climate change. The New Orleans catastrophe demonstrates that minimal effort can often save lives.
