Title: Llamas and Alpacas for Indio Farmers

The highest vegetation zone in the Andes, the Paranamo, is critically endangered. Previous llama and alpaca herds have been decimated. The possibilities for the people to survive are few and the tendency to migrate into cities is high. However, there are many farmers in the villages of Guadalupe and AsociaciĆ³n Santa Martha who want to stay there and work to improve living conditions. 52 families (275 persons) are involved in the project and will benefit from it. During the first implementation phase the farmers in the area of the village of Guadalupe will receive 66 animals; in the next step the farmers of the AsociaciĆ³n Santa Martha will also receive animals.
