Title: Drinking Water Supply
After longstanding civil wars and riots in the Congo, the infrastructure has been largely destroyed in many parts of the country. In spite of many natural resources, it is one of the poorest countries of the world. Extreme poverty dominates in the project area. Bad water supply and malnutrition through poor yields lead to diseases. The few water wells are far away and are often hotbeds for mosquitoes that transmit malaria. Access to drinkable water is a prerequisite for the enhancement of living conditions in these villages. The organization Misereor is constructing captures for the reservoirs and informs the population about their hygienic use.
