Title: Solar Photovoltaics for Operating Computers in Schools in India
The State of Rajasthan (India) has a large number of villages where it is very costly or impossible to provide electricity by conventional methods. However, these villages can be served by local power plants. Considering the availability of abundant sunshine in the state, power plants based on power generated from solar photovoltaics are a feasible solution to meet electricity needs of such villages. In addition to its development activities, the government has taken a step forward to provide computer education in primary and secondary schools, and accordingly computer systems were installed in schools. The availability of sunlight makes solar photovoltaic technology the best alterative for providing power to computer systems in rural area schools and helps to give students an adequate education.
