Title: Old Residential House Renovated for Passive Solar
A residential house in Linz (constructed 1957-58) was converted to a passive solar house via renovation. The aim was a modern and future-orientated overall design for the old property. An improvement of living quality was achieved through enhancement of noise insulation, good ventilation, and high-quality single room ventilators to avoid window opening. Thereby the energy requirement was reduced from 179 kWh/m² per year to 14.4 kWh/m² per year. The total amount of energy savings is 455 MWh per year and the CO2 emissions were reduced from 160 tons per year to 14 tons per year.
