Title: Environmental Management Studies at School in Austria
In the course of the preparation of a waste management concept, the technical secondary school in Dornbirn (Austria) detected that it does not operate sufficient waste separation containers. Therefore patterns were created to avoid waste and promote waste separation. Furthermore statutory regulations in waste management for schools were arranged. Via the energy audit, the current heating system of the school was analyzed, alternative heating methods determined and the costs calculated. Practical work on the photovoltaic facility in the course of this project revealed many opportunities for integration in lessons and that as a laboratory class it fits well in the curriculum for chemical, industrial and environmental engineering.
