Title: Strategic Energy Management
Real estate harbors a big energy savings potential for fossil energy. Due to the evolved structures, large real estate properties are not managed ideally and have high energy consumption. Therefore energy management across real-estate boundaries promises big optimizing possibilities. HUK-Coburg has picked up this idea and realized a holistic energy concept within the framework of their planned building RIO, which spans three properties. It combines the reduction of energy consumption through exploitation of natural air ventilation and cool night temperatures as well as the use of solar cooling. Additionally the use of low-cost storage technologies for heat and energy is an essential aspect to shift energy consumption from peak times to low charge times and to run the HAC technology on a high energy efficiency level.
