Title: Urban agriculture promoted in northern Brazil
Cultivate Plants and Cultivate Peace seeks to promote urban agriculture and environmental education among the inhabitants (especially the poorest) in the city of Macaé in South East Brazil. With the active participation of students, mentally ill persons, elderly and professionals in the field, the project creates and multiplies knowledge by informing families about the importance of urban agriculture, its benefits and advantages. The initiative seeks to generate knowledge and foster urban agriculture practices in order achieve an inclusive, healthy and green city. In addition, families can trade fresh, organic food to improve their living conditions and the relationships between citizens.
