Title: Demonstration of a foil tunnel dryer for energy savings

The University of Udaipur (India) designed and developed a technology for drying von agricultural and industrial products on the basis of a solar tunnel dryer. This tunnel consists of a metal housing covered with a semitransparent, 200 µm thick UV foil. The 30-40% relative humidity within this housing is optimal for drying. A successful test series has been implemented at 15 different sites. The primary goal of this project is to enable simple and economical drying of fruits and vegetables. The costs of the technology for a surface area of 50 m² are around € 1000, which amounts to an amortization period of only six months.
