Title: Mitsubishi Develops New Generation of Electric Vehicles
The constantly growing demand for mobility is a growing problem in view of climate change. Within the framework of the comprehensive environmental initiative 2010, Mitsubishi introduces the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution MIEV. This vehicle launches a new generation of electric vehicles with not only excellent environmental features but also dynamism that is comparable to or even better than similar fuel-operated vehicles. The car has four in-wheel electric motors and high-performance lithium ionic batteries for energy storage. The motor quartet provides a total output of 272 horsepower (200 kW) with a rotational moment of 518 Newton meter. Therefore the car can be accelerated up to 180 km/h. Its range is about 250 km. Extremely compact in-wheel motors are stronger, lighter and more compact than any available accumulator. The MIEV concept represents an environmentally friendly drive solution that, beyond the bare electric drive, facilitates other alternative drive technologies, such as hybrid drives and fuel cells.
