Title: Energy Reduction in Conventional Buildings
The aim of the project was to achieve a reduction of the primary energy consumption by 50% for heating and hot water preparation in comparison to conventional technologies. A particular challenge was the fact that the buildings were not designed as low-energy buildings but the reduction could be achieved through the used 2-conductor compact facilities and their included hot water preparation. To achieve the aim without loss of comfort, a biomass power plant was constructed for hot water preparation; decentralized hot water preparation will be handled by the flat facilities. Additional contributions are the position of the building and the building materials. The resulting CO2 savings exceed 45 tons per year.
