Title: Urban Woodland Youth Project
Trees for Cities’ Urban Woodland Youth Project is an exciting program of engagement activities and events created to improve children and young people’s use and appreciation of woodlands in London. Activities include visits to woodland by school groups, active consultation with young people on project plans, carnival style planting fun days for young people to take part in improving their woodland, participatory walks and talks that demonstrate in a fun and active way the heritage, health & exercise and biodiversity aspects of the woodlands, with a theme of environmental education throughout. The project is in the pilot phase, but Trees for Cities hope to create a model to roll out across urban areas in the UK, Europe and worldwide.
