Title: The Orchid, an Ecotel Hotel

The Orchid, an Ecotel hotel, was envisioned to be an environmentally friendly hotel right from the foundation stage itself. The objective was to reduce energy consumption in the hotel through energy-efficient technologies, operational standard operating procedures geared to reducing energy consumption, and effective training for all employees. The resultant energy efficiency measures have led to effective savings of 2266 MWH/year, or USD 229,370/year. The Orchid is also Asia’s first Ecotel and the world’s first ISO 14001 certified hotel.
