Title: Cleaning Landfill Biogas of Corrosives

Microphilox is a pilot run for electricity and heat production from landfill biogas by applying micro-turbine technology in combination with biotrickling filters. Landfill biogas is a renewable energy, but it is necessary to eliminate compounds that on combustion have a corrosive effect for machines. In two pilot plants, biological reduction of hydrogen sulphide and siloxanes, which are part of landfill biogas, will be tested. Novell aspects include the integration of the micro-turbines with a combined biological system for biogas cleaning. The project started in October 2005 and will run until 2009.
