Title: Sustainable Water Supply
Huge areas of Chad are desert landscapes; only in the south is the soil fertile. The region Bedogo has insufficient precipitation to ensure the natural water supply throughout the year. After a few months the water spots dry out; the low ground water level makes the construction of wells expensive. Therefore people depend on private wells that are too expensive for most extended families. Committees of affected villages together with the local relief organization Assaild have implemented a plan to enlarge the capacity of the nearby reservoir.
