Title: Return of Water in West India
The project was started in November 2003 in three villages in the state Maharashtra (West India). The aim was to re-establish and protect the biosphere in order to stop the migration of young people into the cities. The ground water was to be restored to a normal level so that agricultural use would be possible again. Deforestation of the land was to be stopped and the self-sufficiency of the villagers was to be assured. Furthermore education possibilities for children and women were to be implemented. The return of the water into the soil was to be achieved through measures such as reforestation and construction of areas where water can trickle into the soil and the vegetation can recover with the help of prohibition of forest clearance and grazing.
