Title: Safe and Sustainable Drinking Water for the Poor
This project aims to reduce poverty among a poor community in Mpigi district of Uganda by providing an improved water supply. The project is a community-managed water project implemented by KDF (Kyakulumbye Development Foundation) along with the community and the municipality. It will focus on maximizing the effectiveness of the municipal staff and the community wells in Mpigi water district. The project targets underprivileged and disadvantaged groups of women. Community structures will be strengthened and capacity-building activities (such as training, construction of water sources and operation and maintenance) will be conducted to ensure effective operation and maintenance and hence the sustainability of the facilities. Some 9134 persons will benefit from the improved water supplies.
