Title: Bio-Energy from Plants Used for Wood Drying in Austria
A reservoir flow biogas facility (state of the art) converts energy crops into biogas. Methane bacteria decompose the organic material and produce methane (CH4) as the final product. The energy content of this gas is 4.5 to 6.5 kWh/m³ and will be converted into energy in a heating/power station. In cooperation with the company Fair Holzwerkstoffe the heat is used to kiln-dry wood. Therefore a perennial use of the heat is guaranteed. Due to uniform and consistent drying, the wood is perfect for producing parquet floors because there are no cracks due to contraction and expansion.
