Title: Old Farmstead Converted to Family Leisure Center with Alternative Energy
An old farmstead was converted and rehabilitated into a modern leisure center for children and families (by the use of renewable energy). Over 25,000 working hours were invested in the building by members of Kinderfreunde Mühlviertel (Klaffen, Austria). Already in the restoration planning phase from 1998 to 2000, emphasis was placed on environment-friendly, energy-saving design. A low-temperature floor heating facility is used. Wood chips as a renewable energy source are directly from the region. Through an interactive educational trail, the visitors and guests of the Grenzlandcamp get in touch with the topic of alternative energy.
