Title: Water Filtration Project in Kitagwenda, Uganda
A bio-sand filter project in Kitagwenda Country in the Kamwengye District of southwest Uganda is planned as an intervention in order to improve the supply of safe rural water. The implementation would benefit many people in that area because of the improvement in safe water supply at household level as well as jobs in the operation and maintenance of the filters. Health educators will also be trained on the health education aspects of the filters. A gradual withdraw of subsidies is envisaged in order to make the project self-sustaining, provide employment for the technicians and have lasting health benefits that improve the living standard of inhabitants in the area.
