Title: Photovoltaic Power Plant Extends Renewable Energy in Iran
One of the main objectives of the fourth development plan of the Islamic Republic of Iran is to increase the nation’s capacity of renewable energy. Increasing the share of renewable energy in the national energy mix is another element of Iran’s long-term policy. The Ministry of Energy (MOE) has planned to allocate one percent of the total capacity of electricity generation to renewable energy sources (power plants) until 2010. In this project four photovoltaic power plants with a nominal capacity of 154 kW have been designed and are producing 127 kW. The generated electricity of this power plant during 2000 and 2004 was about 526 MWh. The reduction of greenhouse gases will be about 670 tons/yr CO2 equivalent.
