Title: Solar Electricity for Schools in Kenya
The project solved the electrification problem of 20 basic schools in various regions of Kenya that were without electricity. The schools are in the slums and rural areas where projects of the Humanist Movement have been running for several years with the aim of improving the living conditions of the local population. A photovoltaic system and lighting system are installed in each school. In addition, one computer with learning software for kids and printer was supplied to each school. The first installations in 2004 were made by people from Solartec Company, and additionally 100 locals were trained to do the job. This project is a great opportunity to educate the next generation of young people and to provide a better school environment for the poorest kids.
