Title: 100% Renewable Energy Island in Denmark

In 1998 Samsoe was announced to be the Denmark’s 100% renewable energy island. The perspective is to convert the island energy consumption to renewables in a period of 10 years. The project is based on proven technology and widespread public participation. Eleven onshore and 10 offshore wind turbines, 4 district heating plants and 300 household installations are producing 100% of the island’s electricity. 140% of CO2 emissions have been reduced due to electricity export from wind power.
