Title: Jordan Biogas Pilot Project as Harbinger for a Cleaner Future
In 2000 on a landfill waste disposal site near Amman, a unique US$ 5.5 million biogas project was realized to control greenhouse gas emissions and to create an environment-friendly renewable energy source. At the start of 2003 about 13,800 MW/h of electric power had been running into the power grid. Thus 1540 tons of climate changing emissions are avoided per year, and the annual gross income is about US$ 400,000, where a quarter of this is respent in training on public and academic levels to secure further realization of renewable energy technologies.
