Title: Green Light Graz saves 59% of power for street lighting
Street lighting in the city of Graz (Austria) involves ca. 24,000 lights that largely stem from the 1960s; thus they are up to 45 years old and consume corresponding amounts of energy. The project Green Light Graz is modernizing street lighting in Graz wherever economic savings potential is identified. The use of the most modern technologies and control engineering will achieve energy savings of 1,454 MWh annually after completion of the modernization, or the energy requirement of some 420 households. These energy savings also mean a CO2 reduction of 394,000 tons annually.
