Title: General planning of Windpark Steinriegel

Windpark Steinriegel (Austria) encompasses ten wind power plants that generate an overall output of 13 MW. The site in the municipality of Ratten reaches 1574 m above sea level. Since its construction in October 2005, it delivers on average 2.5 million KWh per month or 30 GWh annually, making it the windiest park in all of Austria. A significant challenge of the site is the correct recording of climatic conditions. The wind power plants must withstand ice and winds over 200 km/h over longer times. The site itself has height differences of more than 100 meters and is strongly affected by forests that surround the site’s mountain pastures.
