Title: Assessment and optimization of renewable energy schemes on the European electricity market

The effectiveness and efficiency of current and future renewable energy support schemes for electricity is analyzed with a specific focus on a single European market for renewable electricity products. Current best practices are identified and (future) costs of renewable energy systems and the corresponding support necessary to initiate stable growth have been assessed. The main barriers to higher deployment of renewable energy systems for electricity have been assessed as perceived by market actors and stakeholders. The project handles the following central issues: • effectiveness and efficiency of current support schemes (feed-in law, quota obligation, tender procedure, investment incentive) • Compatibility with internal electricity market • Alternative policies and frameworks • European coordination of support for renewable energy systems
