Title: Flare gas recovery in Iran
Nowadays vast amounts of greenhouse gases (mainly CO2) are being emitted into the atmosphere via the burning of organic compounds in flare gas. Some of the compounds are economically valuable, including ethylene and propylene. Tabriz Petrochemical Company’s plant includes three flares; the main flare is to be replaced with a flare gas recovery unit. In this project, membrane processes provide segregation of these valuable compounds from flare gas within an olefin plant. Besides delivering economic benefits, the project replaces flare gas burning and avoids greenhouse gas emissions.
