Title: Small LED-based home solar solutions for aids poor population and women
Small LED-based home solar solutions have become very popular among the poor rural population of Bangladesh. This project has improved the quality of life in remote rural areas. Rural households traditionally use petroleum lamps for lighting, but the price of petroleum rose steadily and became unaffordable for the poor. Due to this energy crisis, LGED launched the project SRE (Sustainable Rural Energy) and acquired the LED-based lighting systems. The project was funded by the UNDP. The project supported rural women, who were able to extend their working hours.
