Title: Waste vegetable oil recycling for biodiesel production in El Salvador
As part of a local solution to mitigate environmental pollution in El Salvador, used cooking oil is collected through a recycling program designed exclusively to convert this waste into renewable biodiesel. The project started in 2006 as a result of a research study focused on estimating the amount of waste vegetable oil generated in El Salvador and its recycling potential for biodiesel production. The founder of the project built the entire system from scratch, including the 100 gal/day biodiesel processor. Soap is also made from the glycerol byproduct.
