Title: Bio-electrification of Pakistani village
Rural electrification poses a great challenge to all developing countries. Existing practices for off-grid electrification include solar photovoltaic, wind micro-turbines, micro-hydro-electric plants and bio-gas. A new extremely sustainable long-term technology with tremendous economic spin-offs has been developed and installed in a remote village in Pakistan. Umar Din Arain has become the first bio-electrified village in the country and perhaps in the world. Bio-electrification is achieved by cultivation of oil-bearing plants, oil extraction, bio-diesel production and electricity generation.
