Title: Municipalities in Tyrol mobilize their citizens toward climate friendliness
The pilot project “Tyrolean municipalities mobilize” was launched in 2006 with the goal of stimulating sustainable and continuous activities in selected municipalities to promote environmentally friendly mobility. This goal was pursued with Mobility Centers set up in ten municipal offices that offer various services around public transport, such as bus and train schedule information, workshops, pocket schedules, and free trial tickets. Local public transport was advertised and the environmentally friendly association of these was extended. Due to the overwhelming success, the project was extended in 2007 with the support of the province of Tyrol, Tyrol’s Integrated Public Transport System, and Tyrolean transport companies to include twenty Tyrolian municipalities and to accent bicycle transport.
